Treasurer George Blair stated that there was $6411.51 in the treasury.

A discussion was held on the breakfast/brunch to be held on April 21st.  Decisions were made to make the event flow.  They were:

  1. Nametags would be at the entrance with assigned table number on them.
  2. Two tables would be set up inside for coffee and cold drinks.
  3. Three tables will be set up in the back for sign ups for future events.
  4. The breakfast tables would be set up in groups of 6 and 8.
  5. Ed Melendez would man the name tag table and John Bourque would help
  6. More breakfasts (10) would be ordered than there are reservations for walk in members.

New people needed to fill vacancies on the Board were reviewed.  New people will be needed for the following positions:

  1. Recording Secretary
  2. Social Committee Chairperson
  3. Lunch Bunch Chairperson
  4. Membership Chairperson
  5. Wine Taste Chairperson will likely come from current committee
  6. Susanne Melendez needs an apprentice to learn how to do the website for 2011-2012.

Regarding speakers for next year, 1st VP Steve Clark reported that two speakers want to become permanent – Wilmington Symphony and Cape Fear Museum.  In September it was decided to have no speaker because of the already crowded agenda getting the activities started.

The year-end party on May 20th was discussed.  Corolyn Foster presented a budget for the event, which includes a gift for each participant of a 17 ounce wine glass.  The cost of the glass is $3.75 and this price includes a satin etch handshake on it.  It was decided to cut the event sign ups off at 192 so that the appropriate number of glasses could be ordered.

The Southport Community Center has been reserved through November 2010 for our monthly membership meetings.  Tom Cerniglia will book the SCC for the End of the Year Party in 2011.  He was asked to investigate the Southport Senior Center for future events.

There will be a May Board Meeting on May 5th to make the final decisions on the end of the year party.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 AM.

Respectfully submitted,

Anne Metz, Recording Secretary
