BNC BOARD MINUTES
November 1, 2010
President- Frans Kuipers called the meeting to order at 8:30AM

Secretary’s Report- Mercedes Evans
Minutes from October were approved.
Treasurer‘s Report - George Blair
The ending bank balance as of 10/30/2010 in the BNC account is $3,201.97
Report was approved.
Announcements, Comments, Discussion
Information for the Treasure - there are approximately 30 Bonus Buck outstanding so far this year.
The Welcome Lady will be allowed to address the members at the monthly meeting.
Only board members and committee persons will be allowed to speak at the BNC meetings and only regarding BNC matters.
1st Vice President– Steve Clark
The speaker for November will be Howard Franklin, the director of the Brunswick Co. Airport.
The director, Reed Wallace, of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra and a few of the members will attend our January meeting. They will provide “live” music.
2nd V Vice President - Tom Cerniglia
The SJ Community Center is not ready; therefore the BNC Board meetings will continue to meet at the SJ firehouse.

November 4 was the lunch at the Blue Water Grill in Wilmington.
On January 5th lunch will be at Osteria Cicchetti in Wilmington; cost $19
February’s lunch will be at Parson’s Table in Little River, SC. The date will be Wednesday, the 2nd.
March and April’s lunch venues are not decided as yet.
There will be no lunch in May.
Membership- Al Pluchos
BNC membership is approximately 294
Renewals are still coming in.
November 15 is the “drop date” for past members who have not renewed by paying the $10 fee.
A reminder Blast will be sent to the members who have not paid.
The BNC dues are $10 and the calendar year for membership is July 1 to the next year June 30.
If some joins in April or May by paying their dues they will be paid members for the following year.
Committees should refer to the membership list spreadsheet which will indicate in two different sections the paid active members and the prior members who did not renew by paying their dues.
Newsletter– Don Cunningham
If possible all information for the newsletter should be in sent in a timely manner.
The deadline for information to be included in the newsletter is the day of the Board for that month.
The calendar of events in the newsletter is very worthwhile.
Publicity– Mo Beers
Still need both someone to train for the publicity position for next season and someone to take photographs.
A BLAST will be sent to both present and past members through November 15, then only to present members.
A reminder BLAST will be sent to prior members who have not paid for 2010-2011.
A tri-fold brochure for BNC is complete and will be distributed.
Social– Jean Sessa and Cheryl McGuire
November 4 will be Cocktails for 10. Attendees will bring "heavy" appetizers and whatever they wish to drink. The host may decide whether to provide a “signature drink”.
The Holiday Party with Encore will be a sit-down dinner and dancing at SJ Members Club on Saturday, December 18. The individual cost per person will depend on the menu selection ($28 to $34).The seating will be arranged by the SJ Club staff.
The Trivia Night will be on February 7, 2011 at the Southport Community Center.
The event will be $20, catered by Baked with Love. Winners will receive BNC Bucks. There is a limit of 72 attendees.

The money for the Caribbean Cruise on February 23rd is being collected.
The Georgetown Outing is November 9.
The Billie Elliot Outing on January 13 is sold out.
The committee is looking into a Bald Head Island tour for $46 in the Spring.
Website – Susanne Melendez
Committee chairs should send information for the website. The information should also be sent to the Newsletter chair. Copies for each should be phrased differently and not be exact copies.
Wine Tasting – Bill Young & Steve White
.The second WT was Friday, October 29. The theme is Wines with Funkie Labels.
There will be no refunds for this event after the published deadlines except in extraordinary circumstances and then the board/committee will make the decision.
Members only can attend this event. The committee will check the official membership list for verification especially at the beginning of the BNC year when there is confusion as to who is a paid member.
The October WT made $200.
There is no WT in November.
The December WT will be on Friday, the 10th (earlier this month). The theme will be Holiday Wines.
The cost of all wine tastings per person will be $17.
